My life and career have been an adventure. But at the core of that adventure has been a lifelong desire to help others. From my time in the Canadian Navy to my career in Real Estate, helping others has brought me great personal and professional success. And while that success is something I cherish, the success of others has always brought me the most joy. This is the reason I love what I do.
Born to a military family that (like most military families) was constantly on the move, it was almost inevitable that I would follow in my father's footsteps and pursue a military career. I joined the navy in 1992 and served proudly for seven amazing years on both East and West coast on an incredible range of ships—chief among them HMCS Porte Quebec, HMCS Chignecto, HMCS Summerside, HMCS Yellowknife, HMCS Edmonton, and HMCS Nanaimo. Here in Victoria I served with the Fleet Diving Unit (Pacific), NOTC Venture, and Port Security (Pacific,) a truly memorable experience. I continue to serve with the Canadian Forces Naval Reserve and am currently parade at HMCS Malahat.
My naval career was, and remains, an incredible personal experience, one that has helped define who I am today. But it was always about something more—a deep desire to serve others. And it was in the military that I began to understand, both through observation and personal experience, the stresses involved in finding a place to call home. Members of the military and their families rely on relocation services to help them move. I used these services myself and quickly came to understand how important it is to deal with someone who truly cares and is up to date on the current policies. It makes all the difference, and I took this lesson to heart.
When I bought my first home at age 26, the experience was incredible—joyful. And in the 15 years since, I have done my utmost to offer the same experience to all of my clients, often more than once. Now married with two young children, I understand better than ever how important the right home is to a family's happiness. Unfortunately, in today's market, buying and selling homes and investments has become unnecessarily complex. My job is to simply things, and in helping others to buy their first (second, or third) home, to make things easy. Communicating, listening, spending time, and getting things exactly right. These are the goals that continue to guide me in my career—a career I continue to love as much today as the day it started.
